Opinion "The Thornless Rose" de Morgan O'Neill

No one ever knew what really happened to Dr. Jonathan Brandon back in 1945. He simply disappeared from a London pub, leaving behind an unsolved mystery and his fiancée—Anne Howard's grandmother. Seventy years later, Anne herself is haunted by the strange tale, along with inexplicable hallucinations straight out of Elizabethan England. Including a scarred, handsome man whose deep blue eyes seem to touch her very soul.... Anne wonders if there isn't something more to the story. Is it even possible that Jonathan disappeared into the England's dark past? And why does Anne keep hearing him whisper her name? Because now she too feels the inexorable pull of the past, not to mention an undeniable attraction for a man she doesn't even know. It's just a matter of time before Anne will step back into history, and face a destiny―and a love―beyond imagining...

Well, well ... Another opinion in English and, every time I write the reviews it seems to me that there is always so much to say.
I can start by saying that although it took me some time to finish reading this *delicious* story, each and every page has been fully and completely absorbed by my eyes of avid reader of  more and more.
In this book we are given to know the story of the mysterious disappearance of Jonathan Brandon in 1945. Seventy years ware, appears the sweet Anne Howard, an American History teacher, granddaughter of Catherine, the former Jonathan's bride in 1945, Catherine. Complicated? Confused? Yes, yes ... at first I was a bit confused to what was going on. Now we were in 1945, now we were in 2014 to go to the years of Elizabeth's reign, 1560. Duuuuuh... very disturbing, indeed.
When I first read the book I really did not know what to expect. Not at all. I realized that maybe all was about spirits, people who have died and who are unaware of it, much to the "Melinda Gordon" series. However, while progress was being made on the pages of the book, I realized that what was happening was, nothing more, nothing less than Time Travelling. As Jonathan stepped back in time, from 1945 to 1560, Anne also suffered the same "gift" or curse, depending on your point of view.
Prepared by her grandmother, Anne travels back in time hoping to find Jonathan and that is where the past and future suffers major changes.
I loved the way Anne arrives at Jonathan's with an open heart, even though he had been engaged to her grandmother. And he? Had he forgotten the beloved bride? Until he met Anne perhaps had not forgotten and his great hope was to get back and try to find her. However, finding young Anne will give him the chance to be happy. The chance to feel whole. His world gives a huge turn and the heart that always had belonged to another is now given to this stranger from the future who comes full of ideas and new knowledges.
I found it very interesting how the author connects the past with the present and the future. The way all the events start up in a way that does not compromise all history written and documented as we know it today. How she puts in the same frame the romance, the mystery, the intrigue and the horrific crimes without making it boring or confusing.
This book, this story made me think of something that is not very usual to think: What if really exists a veil between the past, the present and the future? And even if there is an alternate reality that elapses with ours? I think it terrifying and at the same time * WOW * .... like, it would be fantastic if we could meet our more remote ancestors and live with them, even without them knowing who we were. I think it would be ... * WOW * (excuse my lack of adjectives).
If I liked it so much, whi didn't I gave the 5 ***** ?
Just for a simple reason: The English of the times of Queen Elizabeth is extremely complicated. Many apostrophes, many words "eaten", many interjections that no one could think of. But who the hell talks like that? Even in old England! Many times I had to go back and read it with pronunciation to see if it made sense.
Now, I didn't tell what was going on on the book? ... I told. I told you what I thought about the fact of using a subject on which I had not yet read any book, even more so in a novel. The story is too complex and to complete to be told here. What really happens to them all, te connection between characters is impossible to be written, this is one of those books that only if you read it you will understand what I mean.
Who has the opportunity to read, please do not hesitate and read!

Bem, bem...

E ele?
